New Construction

We provide structural engineering services for new home construction which includes signed and sealed construction documents required for permit and construction.

Inspections

Black Diamond Engineering provides inspection services for all types of inspections.  If you're  buying a home most lenders will require an inspection of your home to verify it is in good condition.  Most home inspectors provide a broad inspection of the home to verify general function of plumbing, lights, windows, etc. to ensure everything is in good working order, and they will note any cracks they find; however, they are not licensed engineers and do not evaluate the adequacy of the structure.  A separate structural inspection of the home is always a good idea to ensure that there are no major structural issues with the home.  A structural inspection is a specialized inspection that focuses on evaluating the adequacy of the structure.  In many cases the structural inspection alone satisfies the inspection requirement for the lender as the structural adequacy of the home is of paramount concern.

If you're experiencing structural issues with your home such as sagging floors or beams, or bowing walls a licensed structural engineer is needed to analyze the current condition and make recommendations.  As a un-biased third party we can often save our clients money, as we have the expertise to properly address any issues.

Remodels/Additions

Black Diamond Engineering is experienced in remodels and additions of homes.  We have experience with knowing what you can and cannot do structurally with your home.  The running joke with Engineers is that with enough time and money we can make anything possible, which is pretty much true.  But jokes aside, when you call for a consultation you will be speaking with Brian, a licensed PE, who will be able to walk through your home with you and help you understand what is feasible.  Many clients are unsure of what they want exactly because they are unsure of what is possible.  I can walk through your home with you and inform you on site what your possibilities are.  I can inform you which walls are non-load bearing and which ones are load bearing, and then provide you the construction documents required for permit and construction.
